Wonja and DJML are regular livestreamers these days, broadcasting from Oakland on their Do/While stream seemingly whenever they get the itch. If I manage to catch those streams when they're happening, they're always a highlight of my day, so I was incredibly excited when Groove Café hosted them back on May 2, 2020. They came through with some heavenly breaks and dub — and matched serendipitously with Nervous Operator, whose set from the same night will be a future entry in this series.
For this week's entry in the mix series, the pair have requested that funds get donated to People's Breakfast Oakland, "a grassroots Black socialists political organization which serves the houseless community essential resources. Founded by Delency and Blake in 2017, the organization has fed, provided clothing, and hygiene packs to over 5000 of Oakland residents."
Be sure to keep an eye on the Wonja and DJML feeds for their livestreams on Periscope and give a listen to a big remix album of their work as Motoko & Myers on Future Times.
